Safe controlled shutdown and restart
A recovery sequence for an unresponsive screen or vehicle system, plus clear limits for temperature warnings after DC charging.
Before shutdown
- Stop in a safe place and select P.
- Apply the parking brake.
- Disconnect the charger before attempting a restart.
- Keep the key inside the vehicle.
Controlled shutdown and restart
- Find the emergency power switch in the overhead area near the interior rear-view mirror.
- Press it three times within three seconds. The manufacturer manual also permits holding it for three seconds.
- Wait for the vehicle to shut down completely.
- With the vehicle still in P and the key inside, press the brake pedal to power it on again.
What to do after a DC charging warning
- Disconnect the charger, park safely, select P and apply the parking brake.
- Wait 15–20 minutes before taking further action.
- If the warning remains and the system is unresponsive, use the controlled shutdown once.
- If the warning remains, returns or repeatedly requires restarting, contact an authorised service centre.
