Safe controlled shutdown and restart

A recovery sequence for an unresponsive screen or vehicle system, plus clear limits for temperature warnings after DC charging.

Use this only while safely stopped

This is a controlled recovery step for an unresponsive screen or vehicle system. It is not the normal way to switch off the car, and it must not be attempted while driving.

Before shutdown

  • Stop in a safe place and select P.
  • Apply the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the charger before attempting a restart.
  • Keep the key inside the vehicle.

Controlled shutdown and restart

  1. 1Find the emergency power switch in the overhead area near the interior rear-view mirror.
  2. 2Press it three times within three seconds. The manufacturer manual also permits holding it for three seconds.
  3. 3Wait for the vehicle to shut down completely.
  4. 4With the vehicle still in P and the key inside, press the brake pedal to power it on again.

Manual and market boundary

The shutdown sequence is from the official China-market iCAR 03 manual and has also been tried on a Malaysian iCAUR 03 by a local owner. It is not presented as a Malaysian owner-manual quotation.

Owner-reported behaviour after DC charging

Many iCAUR 03 owners report a temporary temperature warning after DC fast charging. Owners have reported that it may disappear after the vehicle rests for approximately 15–20 minutes. Some owners have waited without restarting; others have used the controlled shutdown and then waited. This is owner-reported behaviour, not an official diagnosis. Reports appear associated with certain DC charging stations, but iCAUR has not confirmed unstable electricity as the cause.

What to do after a DC charging warning

  1. 1Disconnect the charger, park safely, select P and apply the parking brake.
  2. 2Wait 15–20 minutes before taking further action.
  3. 3If the warning remains and the system is unresponsive, use the controlled shutdown once.
  4. 4If the warning remains, returns or repeatedly requires restarting, contact an authorised service centre.

Stop and contact iCAUR

Do not treat every temperature warning as harmless. Smoke, a burning smell, unusual physical heat, loss of power, or a message specifically identifying battery or charging-port overheating requires you to stop and contact iCAUR. A restart may clear a temporary software state; it does not cool an overheated battery or repair a charging fault.
